Hebe
A massive genus of shrubs or rarely trees that are mostly native to New Zealand though frequently grown in the British Isles, parts of western Europe and the west coast of North America.
Hebes prefer fertile, sandy, well drained soil but can grow on just about any well drained soil with adequate nutrients. They require average moisture...too frequent watering or too much organic mulch will cause rooting to be too shallow. They are also tolerant of salt air and thus thrive in seaside locales.
They are propagated from softwood cuttings taken during summer. The cuttings should be 3 to 5 inches in length, and with the bottom leaves removed, then placed into a sterile, well drained compost. They should root within 2 months ( or as little as 1 month in a heated propagator ). Rooting hormone isnt really needed but can be used lightly. Rooted plants should be potted up and grown for another year but kept protected from weather extremes during the first winter.
